Location of Colombia

Colombia is a country in northern South America, with its western coast adjoining the Pacific Ocean and its northern coast adjoining the Caribbean Sea. It neighbours the South American nations of Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela, as well as the Central American country of Panama. Colombia has a mixed population descended from native peoples, African slaves and European settlers.

The earliest pioneer to Colombia was Gerrard Sluter, who arrived in Bogotá in 1942. By the end of the year, Aura María Bernal de Sánchez declared her faith in Bahá’u’lláh, making her the first Colombian Bahá’í.[1]

The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Colombia was formed in 1961.[2]

In some parts of rural Colombia, the Bahá'í teachings spread quickly, and it was the actions of the Ruhi Institute, in systematically studying how to make these advances permanent, which led to the deepening and consolidation/training books now widely used throughout the world.
