A Covenant-breaker is an individual who, having accepted the message of Bahá’u’lláh, nevertheless seeks to challenge the internal succession of the Bahá’í Faith and thereby cause internal division, or to claim or support an alternate succession of authority or administrative structure.

Covenant-breaking is a very rare and specific charge; only the Head of the Bahá’í Faith can declare someone a Covenant-breaker, and this is generally only done after all other avenues of reconciliation have been exhausted. Individuals should only be placed in this category if they have been formally declared as Covenant-breakers.
