Caption The South Pacific Ocean Convention held for the first time in Nuku'alofa, capital city of the Kingdom of Tonga. In addition to the Tongan Bahá'ís, believers came from Fiji and Western Samoa. Delegates from the Gilbert Islands could not attend, due to lack of transportation. National Assembly members elected were: Steve Percival (chairman), Latu Tu'akihekola, Mosese Hokafonu, Lisiate Maka (vice chairman), Mrs. Mary Tuataga (recording secretary), Mrs. Irene Williams (secretary/treasurer), Mabel Sneider, Joe Russell and Rick Welland. A Teaching Conference was held prior to the Convention on Universal Participation.
