File info[edit]

Caption Addressing some of the believers of Pampa Cruz, the first indigenous group to reach assembly strength in Peru, Fidel Flores translates into the Huanco dialect instructions for the formation of their local assembly last April. Pioneer Lester Long drove over treacherous roads to the village’s 12,000-foot altitude to represent the National Assembly at the ceremony. The latter was preceded by a bounteous “pacha manca,” the earth-cooked native meal served on special occasions.
