Caption His Excellency Oscar Arrias (right), president of Costa Rica and winner of the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize, receives a copy of the peace statement by the Universal House of Justice. The presentation was made last October 7 by Counsellor Rodrigo Tomás and Mrs. Helen de Sánchez, secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly of Costa Rica. The president was given 'The Promise of World Peace' in Spanish and a special English-language edition prepared in Canada and titled 'To the Peoples of the World.' Only one week after the presentation, President Arias was awarded the Nobel Prize.
