File info[edit]
| Caption | This mural by South African artist Faith47 is a portrait of Atena Farghadani, an Iranian artist and activist, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2015. Farghadani is shown with no mouth, to symbolize how her voice, and that of countless others in Iran, has been silenced. Although created as a gesture of international solidarity, the mural caused a divisive debate in the neighborhood in which it was painted. The mural was vandalized and eventually painted over. |
