Caption This float, sponsored by the Bahá’í community of Hawaii, won the first place Mayor’s Award in the annual Aloha Week parade last September 25 in Honolulu. More than 100 Bahá’ís helped to prepare the float, working all night and into the early morning hours on parade day to cover the float with 40,000 real flowers. Four children of various ethnic backgrounds rode the float, which carried the theme ‘Happiness Is . . . Aloha’ and had ‘Bahá’í Faith’ in large letters on the front and rear. More than 80,000 people saw the parade, which was video taped by three Japanese television stations and was scheduled to be seen in the U.S. during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade TV coverage.
