Caption BW: AERIAL VIEW OF THE FIRST BAHÁ’Í HOUSE OF WORSHIP IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE. Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan, at Wilmette, Illinois, in the heart of the United States this Temple was formally dedicated to public worship in 1953. The nine surrounding gardens with their nine circular pools and fountains were completed in 1955.

BN: This aerial view of the Bahá’í House of Worship and landscaped gardens in Wilmette, at the right, was taken by the Metro News Photos Company, Chicago, and appeared in the Chicago American on August 12, 1957, along with an article about a visit to the Temple written by Mervin Block.
